Thebes Academy as a private non-profit educational organization was established in 1990 in the wake of the new Egyptian Government policy to encourage higher education in the private sector. Many higher education institutes in Egypt were waiting for the opportunity to establish a proper private university once the government decided to examine the application files. The ITA has one of the earliest approved applications. The ITA is one of the limited accredited private institutions in Egypt. The Academy consistes of three Higher Institutes:
